Officials
Within Wiltshire we are committed to both improving the standard of groundsmanship, scoring and umpiring and increasing the opportunities available to all of these officials. Without Groundsmen, Scorers and Umpires Cricket in Wiltshire would suffer enormously and so their development is of key importance to us in the county.
Over the past 12 months the ECB have taken over the organisation and delivery of Officials courses and as a County we are now in the envied position with qualified tutors to run courses for both Umpires and Scorers. In the year ahead the Wiltshire Association of Cricketing Officials (WACO) will be delivering 2 courses aimed at clubs from the Wiltshire County Cricket League divisions 1, 2 and 3 with the intention of ensuring that all umpires standing across the 3 divisions are suitably qualified.
In addition to this we are running Groundsmen's courses in association with the IOG. These courses are leading to a great increase in the number of qualified officials in the county which will only serve to improve the overall standard of Cricket being played within the county.
Despite this increase we are always on the lookout for more officials, be it qualified or otherwise to come forward in the county. Therefore, if you would like more information on how to get involved in Wiltshire please contact Pete Sykes.
