Clubmark Process

For clubs wishing to undertake the Clubmark process there is very simple flow chart that clubs can follow:

Step 1 - ECB Clubmark Registration

In order to begin working towards Clubmark accreditation, you will need to contact Pete Sykes who will register your club to start the process of working towards ECB Clubmark accreditation.

Once registered, you will receive your ECB Clubmark Evidence File and accompanying USB of supporting information and templates.

Step 2 - Actively work towards Accreditation

Once you are registered, you will be in the status of actively working towards accreditation. This involves you completing the ECB Clubmark Evidence File and to do this there is a USB that you will receive, containing all of the support resources that you will need to complete the Evidence File.

Step 3 - ECB Clubmark Assessment

Once the Evidence File has been completed, you will be ready for the ECB Clubmark assessment.

The ECB Clubmark assessment is divided into two elements:

1. Assessment of your ECB Clubmark Evidence File

This is carried out using the Evidence File Checklist, and can take place at any time during the year, either at the club or at another mutually agreed venue. Only, once the Evidence File has received a positive outcome will you be able to move on to the ECB Clubmark Site Visit.

2. ECB Clubmark Site Visit

This is carried out using the Site Visit Checklist, and evaluates how you have implemented and communicated the policies and procedures within ECB Clubmark at your club. The Site Visit assessment must be carried out at your club venue between the months of April and the end of September (i.e. during the cricket season). You will be given notification of a 4 week period during which the Site Visit will take place. This ensures the assessor will get a true reflection of how the club is run on a day to day basis, as well as giving you time to prepare.

Step 4 - ECB Clubmark Annual Health Check

The ECB Clubmark Annual Health Check is a yearly check to ensure clubs are continuing to maintain ECB Clubmark standards. This is a self declaration process.

The Annual Health Check form must be completed and returned to your Cricket Development Manager who will inform you of the date your Annual Health Check is due.

Step 5 - ECB Clubmark Re-accreditation

ECB Clubmark accredited status lasts for three years. However, the emphasis is on clubs maintaining ECB Clubmark standards on an ongoing basis.

Every third year an accredited club is required to review its ECB Clubmark Evidence File using the Evidence File Checklist and a further Site Visit will be conducted.

Step 6 - Withdrawal of ECB Clubmark Status

The ECB can withdraw ECB Clubmark status from a cricket club at any time if it is failing to meet the required standards. However, this is very rare and the Wiltshire Cricket office will try and support clubs to ensure that Clubmark standards are maintained after accreditation.

Step 7 - ECB Clubmark Verification

An independent consultancy firm externally verifies ECB Clubmark on an annual basis on behalf of Sport England, to ensure high standards are being maintained.

A random sample of ECB Clubmark accredited clubs will be visited as part of this process, and will be given notice of when external verification will take place.

Step 8 - Club Merger

A club’s ECB Clubmark status may be affected if it merges with another club. The ECB has a policy on Club Mergers and ECB Clubmark so If your club is considering merging with another club at any time, then please contact Pete Sykes for further advice and assistance.
