Wiltshire Groundsman's Foundation Level Parts A and B Course Application form now available
Book your place now for Wiltshire's Foundation Level Parts A and B courses running in 2012. Places must be booked by Monday 27th February.
For 2012, Wiltshire Cricket Limited and the Wiltshire Groundsman’s Association (WGA) have assumed the responsibility of organising and promoting the IOG Foundation course, parts A and B. Previously, these courses have been solely promoted by the IOG itself, but in order to keep a closer monitoring on Groundsman education throughout the county, the WGA will be coordinating course applications from 2012 onwards.
It is compulsory for candidates to attend both parts A and B in order to attain the foundation level Groundsman’s qualification. The details of the courses are as follows:
IOG Foundation Part A – Sunday 11th March 2012 @ Chippenham CC, 9am – 4pm
IOG Foundation Part B – Sunday 23rd March 2012 @ Chippenham CC, 9am – 4pm
Chippenham CC, Hardenhuish Park, Bristol Road, Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN15 1NG
To attend both parts of the foundation level course the cost is £180 (£90 per part). The full cost of the course is actually £360 but as all Wiltshire affiliated clubs are members of the IOG you are able to receive the course for the member’s rate of £180. In addition to this, upon completion of both parts of the course, the WGA will issue each candidate with an additional subsidy of approximately £80. This will bring the final cost down to £100 which represents fantastic value for money. Also, included within the cost of the course will be food and refreshments for all delegates.
In terms of what the foundation level qualification offers, it gives a practical approach to the preparation and maintenance of a Cricket square. The foundation level qualification is essential for all Cricket Groundsmen as it gives practical information on the most up to date techniques associated with preparing and maintaining a Cricket surface. Logically, the part A course covers the important work that is required during pre season and in the summer whilst part B covers end of season renovations and essential autumn work.
To book a place on the IOG Foundation course for 2012 please complete the application form (see final page of the letter) and return with a cheque for £180 payable to WGA to George Clift, WGA Hon.Secretary, 45B Victoria Park, Great Cheverell, Devizes, Wiltshire, SN10 5TS. Applications must be received by Monday 27th February at the latest.
