Charity Partner - Julia's House

Wiltshire Cricket is very proud to support Julia's House and the development of the Children's hospice in Devizes, Wiltshire.

Julia's House is dedicated to helping life-limited children and their families across Dorset and Wiltshire. To date, Julia's House have offered regular respite sessions at their hospice in Corfe Mullen, Dorset, and in families’ own homes in Dorset and Wiltshire. They also run events for siblings and mums and dads – supporting the whole family.

Julia's House's respite care means so much to parents who are looking after a very sick child 24 hours a day. It gives them time out with their partners, their other children or simply a chance to catch up with some day-to-day tasks, safe in the knowledge their child is being looked after by people they know and trust.

Julia's House's nurses and carers provide life-changing support for parents and their children both in the hospice and in their own homes. They are there year-round and in a crisis, offering emergency respite and overnight care. Julia's House are also there when the worst happens, offering emotional and practical support at the end of a child’s life.

Julia's House in Wiltshire

Until now, Julia's House has been run out of the hospice in Dorset. In Autumn 2013, they launched a small home-based respite care service to families of life limited children living in South Wiltshire. Despite living just a few miles over the Dorset border, where Julia's House have provided care for more than a decade, these families had no access to this sort of frequent support. Julia's House's first steps into Wiltshire have been warmly welcomed by both families and healthcare professionals.

Julia's House's nurses knew there was need in Wiltshire but little did they realise how great that need was until the referrals started rolling in. Now, in response to this demand, Julia's House have started to spread thier care across all of Wiltshire and a hospice is now being built in Devizes. This will be the first and only hospice of its kind in the county.

Support Julia's House

Despite planning permission being granted and building works being underway, Julia's House cannot continue without the support of the public. With just 6 per cent of their annual total funding coming from government, support throughout the county will be vital if the charity is to achieve its dream of expanding its reach through a Wiltshire hospice. Julia's House will also rely on public support to be able to meet the ongoing costs of providing hospice care as well as their home based community care for local children and their families.

If you would like to support Julia's House as an individual or through your business, community group or Crickets Club then please visit their fundraising page or have a look at their website for other ideas about how you can get involved
