Club Support Offer
Wiltshire Cricket Club Support Offer
Every primary affiliated club in Wiltshire has been allocated a representative from the Wiltshire Cricket Board of Directors who will act as a point of contact for face to face meetings between your club and Wiltshire Cricket Limited (WCL).
There are currently seven Directors on the WCL Board as below:
Chairman – Chris Sheppard
Cricket Development Manager – Pete Sykes
Finance Director – Chris Sykes
Non-Executive Director – Brian Elliot
Non- Executive Director – Matt Haslett
Non- Executive Director – Steve Sadler
Non- Executive Director – Lee Ward
For the purposes of this club allocation, the Cricket Development Manager has not been allocated any clubs. The reason for this will be explained later in this document.
Wiltshire Cricket Limited has 74 primary affiliated clubs who are all very different in terms of their size, demographic and ambition. As a result, the needs of each club are very different. However, the capacity of the Wiltshire Cricket Development team to provide individual support to the network of affiliated clubs is very limited and as such there is limited opportunity to meet with every affiliated club. Instead, the Wiltshire Cricket development team is able to provide central support and administers many of the club programmes that are on offer, for example; Workforce education, Chance to Shine, Clubmark, Cricketforce, OSCAs, Facilities advice, Club forums, Competitions.
The Wiltshire Cricket Development team will continue to administer all club programmes and will be available to answer queries over email and phone as normal. However, the purpose of allocating a Board representative to clubs is so that:
- Wiltshire Cricket can engage more closely with all clubs on a face to face basis
- Wiltshire Cricket can promote and explain its Action Plan and priorities on a more localised basis
- Wiltshire Cricket can share best practice between clubs and identify opportunities for partnership working between clubs
- Clubs will be able to present issues that may not be covered in email or phone to a WCL representative
- Clubs will have a point of contact from WCL to invite to any relevant events
The Directors on the Wiltshire Cricket Board are predominantly volunteers and so the purpose of this club support package is not to overburden their workloads or to take away work from the WCL Professional staff. Instead, the purpose is to supplement the work of the professional officers and to increase the contact time between WCL and clubs.
Any general enquiries should still be directed to the Wiltshire Cricket Development team office. For clarification, the roles of the Professional Officers remain the same and are detailed below.
Your allocated club director will make contact with your club to arrange an opportunity to meet with you. Our aim is that each club will be visited as a minimum once a year. Any issues or findings from the meetings with your club will be fed back to the Cricket Development Manager, Peter Sykes, for action.
When can your club representative be contacted?
You should make contact with your club representative in the following circumstances:
- To respond regarding meeting details
- To confirm meeting arrangements
- To invite to club events
- In response to any follow up communication after a meeting with your club representative
In any other circumstances please contact the relevant WCL Professional Officer
Roles of the Professional Officers
For final clarification, please continue to direct general enquiries to the WCL Professional Officers. The primary role of your allocated Director will be to arrange a face to face meeting and feed the actions from this meeting back to the Cricket Development Manager.
For clarification of the roles of professional officers please visit the Development Team page.
