Wiltshire CCC suffer heavy defeat in Unicorns County Championship v Berkshire
Wiltshire suffered a heavy defeat in their Unicorns County Championship match, Western Division, on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday when they lost to Berkshire at Falkland Cricket Club by 222 runs.
Berkshire won the toss and chose to bat and were all out for 311 in 69 overs. Euan Woods scored 82, Andy Rishton 93 and Chris Peploe 60. For Wiltshire Tahir Afridi took 4 for 58 and Joe King 2 for 44. When Wiltshire batted 4 of their top 6 batsmen reached double figures but none scored 20 and by close of play their score was 120 for 7 wickets. On the 2nd day Wiltshire managed to avoid the follow on thanks to Billy Cookson (33 not out) and Joe King (11) who put on 34 for the last wicket to take the total to 172. Neil Clark top scored with 46. For Berkshire Ollie Wilkin took 4 for 47.
With a lead of 139 Berkshire went for quick runs and were all out for 288 on the stroke of tea in 62 overs. Ollie Wilkin scored 69 and Chris Peploe 66. For Wiltshire Joe King took 6 for 81 and Ed Young 2 for 105. This meant Wiltshire had 4 full sessions to score 428 to win. By close of the 2nd day they had reached 146 for the loss of 6 wickets. On the 3rd day Berkshire wrapped up the match taking the last 4 wickets in an hour as Wiltshire were all out for 205. Neil Clark scored 40, Mikey Reynolds 48 and Tahir Afridi 42. For Berkshire Tom Nugent took 5 for 48 and Chris Peploe 4 for 88.
