An update from the Southern Vipers for the 2017 season

The 2017 season will see Wiltshire Cricket continue its association with the Kia Super League holders; Southern Vipers, and here's an update on their plans for this coming season...

Last year's title-winning quartet, Charlotte Edwards, Suzie Bates, Tash Farrant and Arran Brindle all return for the Ageas Bowl based Southern Vipers, after featuring for the side in last year's inaugural campaign.

England's Danielle Wyatt also joins the Vipers for the 2017 season, switching from Lancashire Thunder who she represented last season.

The Vipers are also pleased to welcome Dane van Niekerk (South Africa) and Hayley Matthews (West Indies) to the squad, with the pair announced as the side's overseas players, joining Suzie Bates (New Zealand).

After the success of the first Kia Super League last summer, the second season will see six teams taking part in a round-robin competition over a 17-day period and across 13 different venues from Thursday 10 August to Saturday 26 August. The competition will then climax in a showcase finals day on Friday 1 September at the 1st Central County Ground in Hove.

Kia Super League will be broadcast live on television and radio this summer with Sky Sports providing live coverage of six ‘double-headers’ alongside NatWest T20 Blast matches. The Southern Vipers televised home fixture this season will see them take on Western Storm at the Ageas Bowl on Thursday 10th August, ahead of Hampshire's NatWest T20 Blast fixture against Glamorgan.
