WEPL launches 2020 Club Machinery and Sightscreens fund

Following on from the successful WEPL Improvement Fund and in line with the WEPL pitch preparation criteria, the league will once again be operating a Club Machinery Fund in 2020. Clubs can also apply for funding support towards sightscreens this year.

The league recognise the importance of grounds machinery in the preparation of quality playing surfaces as well as the value of two sightscreens at each end in improving speed of play. WEPL are therefore increasing the funding pot for clubs to £15,000 in 2020 from the previous £12,000 in 2019.

When is the fund open?

We will welcome applications between 20th December 2019 and 27th February 2020.

Who can apply for funding?

All 2020 WEPL clubs, who didn’t receive money from this fund in 2019, are free to apply.

What is eligible for funding?

Sightscreens or any item of grounds machinery required by a cricket club for pitch or outfield maintenance will be considered, including, but not limited to:

  • Light roller
  • Heavy roller
  • Pitch mower
  • Outfield mower

Funding will not be given retrospectively for items already purchased.

Items will need to be purchased by the 1st October 2020 to be eligible for funding.

Machinery can be new or second hand but must come with a minimum 12-month guarantee.

Please do not apply for service costs or replacement parts for existing machinery as this will not be covered by WEPL.

How much can we apply for?

Up to a maximum of £1,500 per club and no more than a 50% contribution to the total cost of the project/product.

The club machinery & sightscreens fund will be £15,000 in 2020.

How do we apply?

  1. Complete the electronic application form
  2. Attach at least two quotations for the item(s) in an email to Allan Taylor ([email protected]) confirming that you have also completed the electronic application form

How will WEPL decide which clubs to fund?

A WEPL panel will make and communicate the decisions by the 5th March 2020.

There is a possibility that we will receive more applications than we can fund. Decisions on which clubs are successful will therefore be based on applications meeting the criteria for the fund, a fair geographical spread, the perceived need of the club and whether the club have previously received funding from the WEPL Improvement or Machinery funds (2016-19).

If we are successful when we will we get the funding?

WEPL will distribute funds to successful applicants once decisions have been made AND clubs have signed and returned documentation regarding the funding.

Clubs will need to evidence the purchase of the item by the 1st October 2020 or the funding provided by WEPL will need to be returned.
