Farewell and Thank you to Harry Mattingley and Lauren Shrubsole

This week sees two of Wiltshire Cricket’s employees, Harry Mattingley and Lauren Shrubsole, leave their employment with us for new roles outside of Cricket. Both will be greatly missed due to their fantastic achievements in their time with Wiltshire Cricket and because of the skill, ability and commitment that they brought to their roles.

Harry, Wiltshire Cricket’s first ever Disability Development Officer, was appointed to his role with Wiltshire Cricket in February 2020 but due to the Covid pandemic was unable to start until August 2020. Since that time, Harry has led the growth of Disability Cricket to the point that we now have thriving Super 1s hubs in Chippenham, Westbury, Swindon and Salisbury (with demand for more), the beginnings of a County Super 9s team, a comprehensive Table Cricket programme in schools (culminating this year in a Wiltshire school reaching the national finals) and a comprehensive SEND offer for schools across the county. From a starting point of next to nothing, to have grown Disability Cricket to the sustainable place it is in now is a massive achievement and one that Harry should be very proud of. It also shouldn’t go unmentioned that Harry started his role on reduced hours and in a completely remote environment due to the restrictions of Covid. As a first job after leaving University this was a less than ideal start but one that Harry never complained about. Indeed, this was the beginning of us getting to know the characteristics that make Harry who he is … During his three years with Wiltshire Cricket he has become an integral part of our team and is hugely respected by everyone because of the personable, caring, thoughtful and capable way in which he goes about everything he does. We wish Harry every success in his future career.

Lauren joined Wiltshire Cricket in June 2022 and since this time has become an incredibly valuable part of the team; working alongside Sam Dent with the management of the Women’s and Girls game, working alongside Harry Mattingley to deliver Disability Cricket programmes, launching and delivering the ECB and Chance to Shine Girls Secondary school cricket programmes and managing and growing our club Under 13, 15 and 19 cup competitions. In her relatively short time with Wiltshire Cricket, Lauren has made a big impact; becoming a trusted and valued part of the team and showing huge ability in being able to manage the many different aspects of her role; including balancing the coaching and administrative elements fantastically. Much like Harry, Lauren’s warm, thoughtful and capable character will be missed within the Wiltshire Cricket Development team and we wish her every success for the future.

Wiltshire Cricket is in the process of recruiting a replacement for Harry’s role and will be looking to go to advert in the near future for Lauren’s role. In the meantime, please note the following contacts for the different work areas that Harry and Lauren were involved with:
