Record amount of funding given to Wiltshire clubs through ECB Small Grant Scheme

£35,000 – more money than ever before – has been allocated to projects supporting at least one of the ECB’s four main national programmes – All Stars Cricket, U19 T20, Get The Game On and developing women’s cricket.

The ECB funding has been supplemented by £1,000 from Wiltshire Cricket Limited and has resulted in 17 clubs benefitting from the scheme in 2018.

In total, Wiltshire Cricket Limited received applications totalling requests for £42,000 worth of funding. From these applications, the Board of Directors took a decision to support all compliant applications and used a formula of capping awards at £3,500 and/or 80% of the total project cost.

Speaking of the scheme, Managing Director, Pete Sykes, said the following:

"The ECB Small Grant Scheme is a wonderful scheme and we were delighted to see the funding from ECB increase by 50% from previous years. This has enabled us to support both more projects than ever before and to a higher percentage of the overall project costs across those clubs. By aligning the scheme to national intiatives this year's scheme has provided a great way for us to reward and recognise the clubs that are supporting those initiatives and are really looking to drive participation in one of ECB's recognised growth areas. 

The types of projects are really interesting too, ranging from traditional projects such as covers to more innovative ideas to improve social spaces which will in turn make facilities more family friendly; something that is really important as our cricket clubs look to improve the experience they can offer to those new families they are attracting through running programmes such as All Stars Cricket or women's soft ball cricket".
