REPORTING A DISCIPLINE CONCERN TO WILTSHIRE CRICKET

In some instances, we are aware that concerns relating to incidents or experiences within Cricket may not fall specifically in to one area. Alternatively, you may wish to speak to someone about your concern before putting it in writing. To cover these two situations, Wiltshire Cricket has the following processes:

1. Report received → 2. Triage → 3. Primary concern identified → 4. Lead assigned → 5. Investigation launched → 6. Supporting teams looped in / consulted → 7. Regular review and safeguarding check-ins → 8. Summary report and continuous learning

Step 1: Report of concern received

Step 2: Triage Initiated

A triage team (e.g., ED&I Board lead, HR/ discipline/ conduct lead, Safeguarding lead) conducts an initial assessment of the case. They determine the severity, complexity, risk level, and any immediate actions required.

Step 3: Primary Concern Identified

The triage team classifies the core issue as one of the following:

This decision defines the lead response path and the relevant legal or policy framework.

Step 4: Lead Officer Assigned

A designated lead officer or team is assigned based on the primary concern.

This may include HR support for internal issues, our County Safeguarding Officer for protection matters, or legal support for regulatory or external liaison.

Step 5: Investigation Launched

A formal investigation is initiated, guided by internal policies and any statutory requirements.

This includes defining scope, timelines, investigators, and documentation protocols.

Step 6: Supporting Leads continue to be consulted (when appropriate)

Where appropriate, additional team members (e.g., safeguarding, ED&I/ discrimination leads, discipline and/ or external agencies) are consulted throughout the process. Coordination ensures that all dimensions of the concern are addressed effectively. This could involve multiple but coordinated investigations based on new/ emerging evidence.

Step 7: Continuous Review & Check-ins

Regular review meetings monitor new information, assess safeguarding risks, and ensure fairness and compliance. The categorization for investigation may be updated as new evidence arises.

Step 8: Conclusion & Learning

A summary report outlines findings and conclusions.

Agreed actions are captured to support learning, improvement, and potential changes to systems or policies.
