Wiltshire Cricket Golf Day raises money for junior cricket in the county

The winning team: Tony Bleaken and Nick Pocock (Andy Littleford and Mark Collis not pictured)

The Wiltshire Cricket Golf Day took place on Monday 17th September with the proceeds going towards junior cricket in the county.

Taking place at North Wilts Golf Club, 8 teams participated for the honour of being crowned Wiltshire Cricket Golf Day champions for 2018. The day started at 12.30pm with bacon rolls and tea/coffee with all teams then teeing off at 1.30pm on a shotgun start.

The runners-up

The day culminated with a wonderful steak and ale pie followed by presentations for the winning teams and golfers. There were prizes for Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin as well as a 4 ball at North Wilts for the runners up and a 4 ball at Bowood + trophies for the winning team. In the end the winners were Tony Bleaken's team comprising of Tony himself, Nick Pocock and Andy Littleford and Mark Collis.

To help raise funds, all golfers brought them with a bottle of wine to go towards a raffle prize of a large basket of wine and there were also tickets for T20 matches in 2019. An auction also took place for a brand new Superbow 900 Gray-Nicolls bat.

All in all the day will have raised approximately £500 for Wiltshire Cricket so a great start in terms of this event but we want to make it much better in 2019 with hopefully representation from more clubs so that we can get up to 18 teams. This will also mean we can run a bigger raffle with more prizes to be won.

A big thank you to to the teams and players who did support the day and to Ged Montgomery for leading the organisation of the event.
