Entering the U19 T20 Competition in Wiltshire:

In order to help Wiltshire Cricket structure the competition in the best possible way for our clubs, we want to hear answers to the following:

  1. How many league fixtures would your club like to play in the U19 T20 competition? (In 2018, 4-6 matches were scheduled).
  2. Would round-robin days (Likely Sundays), where 3 teams play each other at the same venue, help clubs to fulfil fixtures?
  3. Would you prefer fixtures to remain fully flexible, or for Wiltshire Cricket to provide a schedule of fixtures (These can still be adjusted if needed).
  4. Does the North and South groups work for your club or would you prefer to have a random draw? (Please note, a random draw may result in greater travel distances)
  5. Any other comments that you would like me to consider for the 2019 competition?

The exact format for the 2019 competition will be influenced by the responses to the above questions and the total number of entries.

To enter, please contact Sam Dent with responses to the above questions by Sunday 3rd February.

Jelf U16 T20 Competition

We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Gloucestershire Cricket Board (GCB) to offer Wiltshire Clubs the opportunity to play in the Jelf Insurance U16 Club T20 Competition.

The U16 T20 Competition was introduced by the GCB in 2016 following feedback from the U19 T20 Competition, which highlighted significant drop offs in cricket after U15s.  The Competition was designed to provide clubs with a format that replicated the U19 Competition to encourage young players to stay in the game and create an exciting pathway from youth cricket to U19s and Adult Cricket.  The vibrant competition is played in coloured clothing and seeks to recreate the razzamatazz of the Vitality T20 Blast with clubs encouraged to improve the atmosphere on match days by including music, barbecues and off-field activities/events for players and supporters.  The leagues are designed to keep more young people in the game and culminate with a Finals Day for group winners.  On the back of the GCB U16 T20 Competition, Gloucestershire are beginning to see clubs who have entered the U16 T20 for a number of years, make the step up to the U19 T20 Competition for the very first time.

Entries are now open for individual clubs to enter teams, or a group of clubs can come together to provide a team(s).  To enter a team(s), please complete the simple form which can be found on the GCB website.  Deadline for entries is Sunday 3rd February.

*Wiltshire clubs – please answer ‘no’ to U19, GYCL U11, 13 and 15 Competitions. This initiative is specifically to offer an opportunity at U16 level for any Wiltshire clubs that are interested. For the other age groups, please note as follows:
- U11s, 13s, 15s – run by Wiltshire Youth Cricket League
-
U19s – run by Wiltshire Cricket Limited

Please note that the intention with the competition, if enough interest comes from Wiltshire clubs, will be to create a Wiltshire division of Gloucestershire’s U16 competition meaning that the cricket can still be local for Wiltshire clubs participating.
