Cricket World Cup Club events take place across the county
Thank you to the 45 clubs in Wiltshire who have registered to be a Cricket World Cup club this summer. By registering as a CWC club it means doors can be opened to the community and family friendly initiatives will be run across all 45 clubs at some stage during the six weeks of the competition.
For the clubs that have registered but are yet to run an event please note that there are some excellent resources, support and ideas available at the Cricket World Cup clubs page.
If you are someone who would like to attend a family day at a local club the please visit this find a club page to find a local club running an event.
Running a club open day could be a great way to bring new families to your club so we would encourage all of our clubs to run some sort of event during the course of the World Cup. Here are some images from a couple of our clubs who have already run events...
Redlynch and Hale CC

Redlynch and Hale CC reached out to its local school community as part of their Cricket World Cup initiative.
Each school "represented" a competing World Cup country and wore appropriately coloured t-shirts, e.g. England (Red), India (Light Blue), West Indies (Maroon) etc. These were kindly sponsored by a local company at no cost to the club
Six pitches on theoutfield, continuous games all afternoon and no boundaries, with a BBQ to finish.
Redlynch and CC were all very pleased with how the event went and thanks should go to the team of 14 "Young Leaders" from Trafalgar School (where Redlynch and Hale CC also deliver a regular after school club); a great example of a Community Partnership arrangement.
On the day there was a "Star Moment" (instead of a Champagne moment!) where each team manager/adult had to nominate a player in their team for something during the afternoon. The club then presented each child with their "Star Award" - with awards being for things such as good sportsmanship and helping less able players. Every child also got a certificate of attendance as well.
Swindon Nalgo CC
On Saturday 9th June, Swindon Nalgo CC opened up their doors to the local community and families prior to a senior league game. The clubhouse was full of families and their children with food and drink freely available; a great event and a wonderful way to show the club as a family friendly, open and approachable club.
