Coach Development Workshops in Wiltshire 2020

Access to specialist insight from professional coaches

As part of our formal talent pathway partnership with Gloucestershire Cricket, Wiltshire Cricket is delighted to announce that it will be again be holding coach development workshops this winter, whereby qualified coaches in Wiltshire will be able to pick up tips from some of the best in the business. These workshops are open to any qualified coach in the county and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis with 30 places available per workshop.

Workshop One – Getting Back to Basics - Fundamentals of Movement

Date – Monday 2nd March
Time – 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Venue – Dauntsey’s School, West Lavington, SN10 4HE
Cost – £10 per participants

Understanding the fundamentals of movement and how good fundamentals underpins technique, this practical workshop will cover the following:

  • What are good movement fundamentals
  • How to integrate these into your club, district or county sessions
  • What are the implications of good/poor fundamentals when developing cricket skills
  • Discussion and practical demonstrations around the topic

Deliverers will be Ollie Hunt, Gloucestershire CCC Pathway Strength and Conditioning Coach and Bob Smith, Gloucestershire CCC Head of Strength and Conditioning

Workshop Two – Getting Back to Basics – Delivery of Batting and Fast Bowling Fundamentals

Date – Monday 9th March
Time – 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Venue – Dauntsey’s School, West Lavington, SN10 4HE
Cost – £10 per participants

Following on from workshop one this interactive workshop for club, district and performance coaches focuses on how coaches can best deliver  the fundamentals of batting and fast bowling in their sessions.  This practical workshop will cover the following:

BATTING

  • A balanced set up and alignment
  • Controlling the ball off the bat face.
  • Drills to help instil the above

FAST BOWLING

  • Run Up
  • Alignment and balance through the crease
  • Follow through
  • Drills to help instil the above

Deliverers will be Mark Thorburn, Head of Fast Bowling at Gloucestershire CCC and Tim Hancock, Head of Talent Pathway at Gloucestershire CCC.

These workshops are fantastic opportunities outside of the formal Education courses that Wiltshire Cricket delivers.
