Swindon make it a double and win Vitality Under 13 T20 competition

Following in the footsteps of their U15 counterparts, Swindon Under 13s ran out winners of the Vitality Under 13 club competition, defeating Potterne by 63 runs.

After winning the toss and batting, Swindon found it hard going. The Potterne opening bowlers (Weeden and Bevan) bowled excellent areas, giving away no runs at all in the first two overs. This induced a couple of wickets as first Tiwari was run out and then Hobson departed – bowled Doran, caught Bevan. Following this the innings was rebuilt as Marathe (32 retired off 49 balls) and Baker (33 retired off 33 balls) put bat to ball. Following the retirements, Savalapu, Jordan and Staff took the innings to 92-3 at the interval.

In an inspired spell of play, Potterne were reduced to 3-4 as Rhys Baker burst through the defenses taking all four early wickets on his way to the impressive figures of 4-2-3-4! Despite Rhys taking the wickets  he was strongly supported at the other end by William Jordan who went wicketless from his four overs, but only conceded 5 runs! Following this the wicket taking was picked up by Danityal Anwar (3-2-1-3), Archie Copeland (3-0-6-2) and Advik Tatwani (2-1-2-1) who brought the Potterne innings to a close at 29 all out.

Thanks must go to Swindon CC for hosting, as well as to the parents, officials, scorers and coaches who helped the game run smoothly.
