Free ECB Support Coach courses delivered in Cricket clubs return for a 2nd window!

During the first part of the summer, Wiltshire Cricket has been delighted to deliver FREE ECB Support Coach courses to five cricket clubs across Wiltshire. During May and June, Heytesbury and Sutton Veny CC, Calne CC, Collingbourne CC, Whiteparish CC and Winsley CC were recipients of the offer that was sent out to all clubs at the start of the season.
Our offer provides Cricket clubs with the opportunity to apply for an ECB Support Coach course to be delivered, potentially completely FREE, for your club coaches on a date of your choosing! Our first window of courses has seen us train 40 new coaches, of which 30 have been female and we are now delighted to be able to offer a second opportunity for clubs to apply for a course to be delivered at their venue during September. Here are the details …
Club-Specific Support Coach Course (for any club member (16+))
... to be delivered at your club on a Saturday or Sunday during September.
This course has been designed to give learners the knowledge, skills, and confidence to support qualified coaches and enhance player experience. Support coaches are not qualified to independently lead a session, however this is a fantastic introduction to coaching. This course is perfect for young volunteers (16+), parent-helpers or those new to coaching.
Wiltshire Cricket will be providing a full bursary for all female candidates on this course.
Further Information:
- A minimum of 6 candidates are required for the course to be delivered at your club, of which at least 3 should be female candidates.
- Please may clubs provide 3 preferred weekend dates during September for delivery (to then allow us to gauge Coach Developer availability) – Only 1 of these dates will be required for the 3-hour Support Coach Course
- Wiltshire Cricket are pleased to be able to provide all female candidates with a full bursary to the course.
- At least 3 candidates should be female in order to qualify for this course to be delivered at your club.
- A maximum of 3 additional bursaries may be awarded to candidates of other genders, to support reaching the required 6 candidates. For Example:
- 3 female bursaries + 3 additional bursaries + any paying candidates.
- 4 female bursaries + 2 additional bursaries + any paying candidates
- 5 female bursaries + 1 other bursary + any paying candidates
- 6 or more female bursaries + any paying candidates.
- Paid places on the course are charged at £40 per candidate.
- As part of signing up to the course, candidates will also be required to complete some course pre-requisites, including an ECB DBS verification, an online safeguarding course and some very quick Multiple Choice Questions.
At Wiltshire Cricket, we are really excited to be able to use our bursaries to provide this unique opportunity for potential new coaches at your club to take their first step on to the coaching ladder at a familiar environment, amongst friends and fellow club members, and all for completely free!
The deadline for applying for this club-specific course is Friday 18th August 2023.
After this date, Wiltshire Cricket will contact all clubs to confirm the date of the course and provide the course booking link for candidates.
A reminder too that our full programme of 2023-2024 Workforce Education courses are currently live for bookings
