Wiltshire Cricket Limited is delighted to announce that it has been granted Ready to Invest status by the ECB

Wiltshire Cricket Limited is delighted to announce that it has been granted Ready to Invest status by the ECB.

Between 2020 and 2024, the ECB entered in to contractual County Partnership Agreements (CPA) with its network of Recreational Cricket Boards for the first time. Attached to these contracts were a set of standards that Cricket Boards were required to deliver against. This four year CPA represented a period of significant growth for Recreational Cricket Boards but also significant improvement in how we operate, driven in large by the CPA standards that we were required to meet.

In February 2025, Wiltshire Cricket Limited entered in to CPA 2 which contains a streamlined set of standards but a greater emphasis on counties producing four year strategies that are ambitious but also personal and relevant to the county to whom they belong. Over the past twelve months, Wiltshire Cricket has launched its own four year strategy, Beyond Boundaries, and has also spent considerable time developing an Operational Plan that brings to life the actions that will help to deliver our six strategic pillars.

ECB Ready to Invest Status is a new feature of CPA 2 and is designed to ensure the ECB recognises and celebrates diligence and success, and support Cricket Boards in becoming more attractive to external investment.

In order to achieve this status, Wiltshire Cricket has had to:

  • Be on track against all CPA standards (including Governance, Leadership and EDI, Finance, Safeguarding, Regulatory Responsibilities)
  • Have an investible four year strategy
  • Have a well developed Operational Plan
  • Have a robust financial plan

Speaking of this award, Wiltshire Cricket Managing Director, Peter Sykes, commented; “To achieve ECB Ready to Invest status, and to such a high standard, is a testament to the collective efforts of the whole team, both Board and Staff. It is a fantastic recognition for the work that we have done throughout 2025. I am really confident that with an exciting and ambitious strategy, a brilliant team, fantastic volunteers, leagues and associations, and with a solid operational plan we can look forward to a positive and rewarding four years ahead as we strive to make Cricket the most accessible and enjoyed sport in Wiltshire”.

ECB Managing Director, Recreational Game, Leshia Hawkins provided the following comment; "This award and recognition is significant, and hard-earned, and is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved at Wiltshire Cricket, both executive and non-executive.  I have had the pleasure of witnessing first-hand the skill and the desire colleagues at Wiltshire have for our game, and it is clear cricket is in very good hands, with Pete and the team supporting him.”
