Potterne win 2026 Wiltshire Wallop
This years competition has been hotly contested and culminated with the 4 top teams competing for the title at Finals Day held at Corsham Cricket Club where the crowds were out in force for what proved to be a brilliant end to the competition.
The Wiltshire Wallop was conceived in 2013 to find the best T20 side in Wiltshire. With clubs in Wiltshire playing in different league structures and pyramids when it comes to Saturday Cricket, the Wiltshire Wallop offers the opportunity for all clubs in the county to compete in the same competition.
The 2026 competition began in May with 15 clubs participating across 4 groups. The top two teams from each group qualified for the Quarter Finals:
- Corsham won by 3 wickets against Burbage & Easton Royal
- Potterne won by 110 runs against Hinton Charterhouse
- Swindon won by 43 runs against Marshfield
- Trowbridge won by 5 wickets against Chippenham
Semi Final One – Corsham v Swindon
Corsham won the toss and put Swindon into bat. Swindon got off to a flying start with Jacob Hobson making 39 supported by Sebastian Lauderdale-Smith (16) who fell to Callum Sandell in the 3rd over. Marc Williamson failed to make his mark but Finlay Hobson (29) and Sam Giddings (38) steadied the innings. Swindon made 163/7 from their innings. Wickets were spread across the Corsham team with Tom Foley taking 2 with an economy of 5.75 and Ahmed Jamal taking 1 at a very economical 4.25.
Corsham’s innings saw Michael Reynolds make 22 before falling to Tom Codling. Jack Humpreys (21) and Flynn Day (44) fell to Sam Giddings and Ritvik Mohapatra respectively. It was left to Josh Stanley to keep the innings going but lost his wicket for 43 in the 18th over to Tom Mcarthur (2-32). Callum Sandell and Liam Boulton stuck with it with Sandell hitting the winning runs with 2 balls to spare. Corsham won by 3 wickets.
Semi Final Two – Trowbridge v Potterne
Trowbridge chose to field after winning the toss. Potterne’s Olly Butterworth made an explosive start with 16 coming off the first over, falling in the 3rd over to Jerron John for 24. Neil Clark made 68 from 45 balls before losing his wicket to Charlie Campo in the 16th over. Both Seshan Udara (19) and Zaman Shafi (16) added useful runs. Dan Tallentire (2/33) and Campo (3/30) were the pick of the bowlers with Captain Josh Kelly remaining not out on 38.
In reply Potterne took an early wicket dismissing Ollie Brown for 0. Jayke Hudd (20) & Sam Julyan (36) added valuable runs but Josh Davies was devastating with the ball taking the wickets of Oakley, Robbins and Campo for just 1 run. Jordyn Pretorius (20) and Dillon Tollworthy (31) aided the fight back but fell short by 62 runs. Oscar Fox ended with 2/17 with wickets a piece for Heshan Hettiarachchi and Manelker De Silva. Potterne won by 62 runs.
The Final
With Corsham winning the toss and electing to bat Flynn Day (15) and Michael Reynolds (24) made great starts but both lost their wicket to Josh Davies. Josh Stanley made a stand making 33 but Oscar Fox ripped through the lower order dismissing Sandell, Jamal, Boulton and Foley for 5 runs. The bowling attack of Potterne was too strong and Corsham found themselves all out for 102.
Potterne’s top order made short work of the target with Olly Butterworth (17), Neil Clark (29) and Zaman Shafi (41) making the bulk of the runs. Wickets for Callum Sandell (1-26), Tom Foley (1-16) and Sam Wiles (1-35) were not enough leaving Potterne to win by 7 wickets.
Well done to all the teams that took part in this years competition, the umpires on finals day and to Corsham Cricket Club for hosting such a fantastic day – Potterne have certainly got a tough act to follow when they host in 2027.
