Potterne CC victorious at Wiltshire Wallop finals day!

The victorious Potterne CC team

The 2018 Wiltshire Wallop competition came to a conclusion on Saturday 8th September as the reigning champions, Corsham CC, hosted themselves, Burbage, Potterne and Warminster on finals day.

Following a group stage involving 16 teams and success in the quarter final stages, these four clubs came together to compete for the honour of being crowned Wiltshire's premier T20 side. The Wiltshire Wallop was devised in 2013 with the intention of offering competitive 20 over cricket from clubs across the whole of the county. The rules are intended to be simple and the competition a fun but competitive break from Saturday league cricket.

On finals day, the semi-finals were competed between Corsham and Burbage and Potterne and Warminster. Following these matches the stage was set set for the final between holders Corsham, who had won the competition in the previous two seasons, and Potterne, who were previous champions in 2014 and 2015.

Batting first, Corsham could only manage 115-8 with Charley Reed top scoring with 41. For Potterne Jake Roberts led the way with 3-24 from his four overs. In reply, Potterne reached their target pretty comfortably inside 14 overs and for the loss of just 3 wickets as Tom Cullen scored 29 not out, ably supported by Jack Bramwell (30 not out) and Neil Clark (28).
