Wiltshire Cricket running Chance to Shine 'Progress' festivals for schools during June and July

In addition to our normal Chance to Shine programme and ECB Kwik Cricket school competitions, Wiltshire Cricket is delivering a series of participation events for primary schools this term; based at cricket clubs and providing additional Cricket World Cup themed opportunities for schools to participate in cricket.

What is available for schools to book on to?

We still have places available for a fun day (or half day) with the Wiltshire Cricket Community Coaches this school term (6).

We have places available on the Key Stage 1 and 2 Participation events running during July 2019.

And they are FREE to attend….

What are the Progress festivals?

The events are being held around the county are as follows:

Chance to Shine – KS1 All Stars Cricket Festival:

Timings – Two programmes each day – Morning programme – 10am to 12pm / Afternoon programme – 12.30pm to 2.30pm

Number of children per school – Whole class activity

Maximum number of schools attending……..4 schools per programme i.e. 8 schools across the day.

With cricket club All Stars Cricket programmes now in full swing, Wiltshire Cricket are taking the indoor programme we delivered during the winter and taking it outdoors.

This programme is aimed at Key Stage One children only and looks to provide an introduction to cricket as a striking and fielding activity for young children.

The activity is split into two, with a separate session in the morning and one in the afternoon.  This is more suitable for the younger child, keeping it shorter and snappier.

It also means that we are able to work with more schools across the day.

Chance to Shine – KS2 Participation Festival

Timings – 10am to 2.30pm (break from 12pm to 12.30pm)

Number of children per school – Minimum of six, maximum of twelve. But if you want to bring more, that is entirely up to you.

Maximum number of schools attending……..10

With usual Wiltshire Cricket activities being aimed at Upper Key Stage Two children, this event looks to provide an opportunity for younger children to have a go.

Depending on the number of schools participating, the format of the day is flexible.  However it would be expected that the morning element will include skills sets practices and the afternoon will include games.

However if we have more schools interested in attending, we will increase the game element of the programme accordingly.

Note that cricketing experience and ability for this programme is not necessary.  The games and activities played will be age and stage appropriate for the participants.

How to book a place

Just simply find the event (KS1 or KS2) and the venue or date that is suitable to you. We will allocate places on a first come, first served basis, until the event is filled.

Each session will be led by Wiltshire Cricket staff, who will introduce and deliver each element of the programme.

All we ask is that you bring with you sufficient adult help to meet your schools child to adult ratio.
