All Stars Cricket 2.0 - A new programme for children aged 8-11 - Find out more at our local roadshow

2019 was another hugely successful year for All Stars Cricket in Wiltshire, with 1107 five to eight year old children participating in the programme across 34 different clubs. Wiltshire Cricket continues to be a leading county in its delivery of All Stars Cricket and this is thanks to the efforts of our clubs and their fantastic lead Activators.

With All Stars Cricket now having completed its third year it is fair to say that the programme is becoming very much embedded in to clubs’ junior offerings. This is fantastic and means that we will be inspiring many new families and children to develop a life-long affinity with cricket. Indeed, many clubs have already seen the benefits of that engagement from new families joining their clubs.

The question for many now is what happens after All Stars Cricket, particularly as there will be several children who may now have been involved with All Stars for three years. To a certain point this question is already answered by the fantastic under 9s programme that runs throughout Wiltshire. However, if All Stars is truly to create a lasting legacy then there is even more that can be done to ensure that more children get to experience a form of under 9s and then under 11s cricket that is appropriate to them and their stage of development. Additionally, there are many customer experiences from All Stars that can be brought in to under 9s cricket.

With these things in mind, the ECB is incredibly excited to be launching a new programme for children aged 8 – 11 - the perfect next step for All Stars participants, an introductory programme for all those new to cricket and a complimentary programme for any children currently playing Junior Cricket. Supported by Sky, the programme will make cricket accessible for even more children throughout the country.

Earlier this week (21st October 2019) many of you will have received a club support email directly from ECB informing you of some of the roadshow events that have been organised across the country. Prior to these being communicated, Wiltshire Cricket had already fed back that even the nearest roadshow evening would not be accessible for many Wiltshire clubs due to the travel distance. As a result, ECB have agreed to support Wiltshire Cricket in running its own junior cricket roadshow evening. Therefore, the purpose of this email is to inform you that this will take place as follows:

Wednesday 27th November 2019

Assembly Room, Devizes Town Hall, SN10 1BN

6.30pm arrival for 7pm start (8.30pm close)

We hope that by having our own local event it will enable as many, if not all, to attend this evening and find out more about this new programme. We will also cover some updates in relation to the existing All Stars programme for 2020.

We have scope for two representatives from every club to attend, so please let Pete Sykes know who will be attending from your club. If of course you would prefer to attend one of the events communicated directly by ECB earlier this week then equally that is fine.
