ESCA "virtual" Secondary Schools Test Championship starts today

Sheldon School leave it late to win in the First Round of the ESCA Test Championship.

The first round of the ESCA "virtual" Schools Test Championship has been completed today with six double innings matches taking place.

The initial stage of the competition is being played on a group basis, with the top five teams going into the play off phase later in the Spring. Matches are played over two innings, just like test match cricket.

The highlights of the day saw Sheldon School chase down 215 to beat Bishops Wordsworth School with just three wickets in hand. Also St Johns Marlborough posted a huge 319 in their second innings, but still ended up losing to Dauntsey's School by 61 runs.

Match Day 1 Results:

St Laurence School (207 & 230) beat Hardenhuish School (147 & 178) by 112 runs.

Dauntseys' School (223 & 301) beat St Johns Marlborough (144 & 319) by 61 runs.

Warminster School (237 & 250) beat Marlborough College (236 & 155) by 96 runs.

Royal Wootton Bassett Academy (229 & 190) lost to Kingsbury Green Academy (287 & 133-4) by 6 wickets.

Kingdown School (302 & 145) lost to Commonweal School (303 & 145-4) by 6 wickets.

Bishops Wordsworth School (196 & 187) lost to Sheldon School (169 & 216-7) by 3 wickets.

On Monday, we return back to the ECB "virtual" Kwik Cricket qualifiers with the Swindon South festival and the following schools involved.....

Brook Field, Chiseldon, Drove, East Wichel, Hazelwood, Holy Rood, King William Street, Lethbridge, Millbrook, Oliver Tomkins, Peatmoor, Robert Le Kyng, Shaw Ridge, Tregoze, Wanborough, Westlea and Wroughton.
