Burbage and Easton Royal CC win the 2023 Under 19 T20 competition!

Potterne CC played host to the 2023 Vitality Under 19 T20 Finals Day, in association with Wiltshire Queries; a finals day that involved Potterne themselves, Warminster CC, Goatacre CC and Burbage and Easton Royal CC.

Following a group stage involving 10 teams in 2023, we were delighted to welcome the four finalists to Potterne on Sunday 3rd September for a late season finals day full of swashbuckling Cricket!

In the first semi-final, Burbage were up against Goatacre. Batting first, Burbage posted a fantastic 197-4 from their 20 overs with openers Crofton Keyes and Jonny Sadler both reaching 50s retired, aided by a quick 34 from Alby Berridge. For Goatacre, there were two wickets for Tobias Rice (2-18). In reply, Goatacre were led by a 55 retired from Theo Malik but despite 20s from Toby Kershaw and Josh Baldwin could only reach 146 all out. For Burbage Sadler took 3-34 and Seb Woodford 2-13

Burbage and ER beat Goatacre by 51 runs

On to the second semi-final and it was Warminster who batted first against Potterne in a high scoring affair. For Warminster there were 50s retired for Theo Taylor and Liam Carpenter as they reached 214-5. For Potterne, wickets were spread between four bowlers with one each; Albert Weeden, Rory Lyttle, Tom Campbell and Harry Rudler. In reply, several of Potterne's batters made good contributions but they were led by Angus Wrench with 54 not out from 22 balls. In the end though, Potterne fell short on 179-9 with Warminster's Henry White taking 4-16 and Sam Milner-Smith 2-29.

Warminster beat Potterne by 35 runs

On to the final and Warminster once again batted first, again posting a very competitive score as they reached 190-7 from tbheir 20 overs. Cameron Silva led the way with 50 retired and George Cansdale finished it off with 52 retired. For Burbage, Seb Woodford took 2-27.

Despite a challenging total, Burbage made great work of their chase. Crofton Keyes made his second 50 of the day with 53 retired from 28 balls and Max Woodford also made a superb 50 retired from 21. It was then finished off by Charlie Carroll with 34 not out from 13 balls. For Warminster, Henry White took 2-20, however the target was reached for the loss of three wickets inside 16 overs.
