Burbage and Easton Royal CC win their second consecutive Under 19 T20 competition

Following victory in 2023, Burbage and Easton Royal CC played host to the 2024 Under 19 Finals Day, supported by our partners Wiltshire Queries. It was a successful day for the hosts as they saw off competition from Goatacre, Potterne and South Wilts to retain their crown.

Semi-Final 1: Burbage and ER v South Wilts

In the first semi-final, Burbage won the toss and elected to field as South Wilts CC went about setting a competitive total. Contributuons from Matthew Falconer (38) and several other double figure scorers helped South Wilts reach 126-9 from their 20 overs. For Burbage, Nick Kitching with 4-20 and Ollie Sadler with 2-20 were amongst several wicket taking contributors.

In reply, Burbage were led by Jonny Sadler with 49 not out, ably supported by Crofton Keyes with 20 as they reached their target for the loss of just 3 wickets with 4 overs. For South Wilts, Matthew Falconer took 2-18

Semi-Final 2: Goatacre v Potterne

In the second semi-final, Potterne won the toss and decided to bat first. What resulted was a tense and close affair as Potterne posted 146 all out in their 20 overs. This was thanks in the main to 58 retired from Freddie Higton and 35 from Tom Campbell. For Goatacre, Jack Fry took 3-20 and Josh Baldwin 3-17.

In their chase, Goatacre were led by Eric Pyke with 50 retired and Josh Baldwin with 50 retired. However, disciplined Potterne bowking meant that Goatacre ended up 7 runs short on 139-7. For Potterne, Rory Lyttle took 3-25.

Potterne beat Goatacre by 7 runs

Final: Burbage and ER v Potterne

So, the final was set between last year's winners Burbage, and Potterne. Burbae won the toss and elected to bat first. What followed was some fantastic batting from Crofton Keyes (46), Max Woodford (32), Savin Bamunugama (30) and Jonny Sadler with 55 retired hurt. This led to a total of 207-4.

In reply, Potterne's Olly Butterworth scored 54 retired hurt and Tom Campbell 41. However, Max Woodford with 3-35 and Jonny Sadler 2-26 helped to restrict Potterne to 165 all out to leave Burbage and Easton Royal CC as the winners by 42 runs.
