Former Wiltshire Cricket Chair and Wiltshire CCC Secretary, Chris Sheppard, passes away
We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Chris Sheppard, a long term servant of recreational cricket in Wiltshire and someone who had many connections throughout the cricket community in Wiltshire and beyond.
Chris was synonymous with Wiltshire Cricket throughout a long period of his life. His involvement spanned approximately 40 years, most notably as Chair of Wiltshire Cricket Limited from its incorporation in 2010 through to his retirement in 2021. Chris was also secretary of Wiltshire CCC for the majority of those 40 years and also served as secretary of Wiltshire Cricket Board prior to our becoming a limited company in 2010.
In addition to his roles in Wiltshire, Chris also worked for the ECB within their Competitions Department, supporting many regional and national competition finals. He was also a regular presence at national events, representing Wiltshire Cricket at ECB Recreational Assemblies and Wiltshire CCC at national minor counties meetings and events. Through these roles he became well known within cricket circles nationally and was always driven to champion and promote Wiltshire Cricket's cause at a national level.
At a more local level, Chris will be fondly remembered by the many volunteers he met, worked with and supported during his 40 years with Wiltshire Cricket. He also holds a special place in the memories of several existing Wiltshire Cricket Staff and Board members. He was a loyal and supportive colleague who was always proud to advocate the work being done in the county. On that note, all at Wiltshire Cricket owe Chris a huge debt of gratitude for the development and growth he oversaw during his incredible period of time involved with the county.
From all at Wiltshire Cricket we pass on our deepest condolences to Chris' family and friends.
