Growth for Women and Girls Cricket in Wiltshire Ahead of 2026 Season
Women and Girls Cricket in Wiltshire is celebrating large growth as league entries reach new heights for the 2026 summer season.
A record 42 club representatives attended this year’s Women and Girls Fixtures Evening — the highest number recorded for the annual planning event. The strong turnout reflects the remarkable momentum behind the female game across the county and signals another step forward in participation and development.
The increased interest has translated directly into a packed summer schedule, with more than 300 fixtures now confirmed for the 2026 season. The expanded programme will see teams competing across multiple age groups and formats, providing regular cricket for players from junior pathways through to senior leagues.
Wiltshire Cricket would like to highlighti the commitment of clubs investing in female cricket and creating more opportunities for women and girls to play. Many clubs have entered additional teams this year, while several new sides will make their league debuts — further strengthening competition across the county.
The record attendance at the Fixtures Evening not only demonstrates rising participation but also showcases the collaborative spirit within Wiltshire. Clubs worked together to finalise arrangements for what will be one of the busiest and most exciting seasons to date.
The surge in league entries follows sustained efforts in recent years to develop grassroots pathways, improve coaching provision, and create welcoming environments for female players. Schools programmes, club initiatives, and community engagement have all contributed to the steady rise in numbers.
With more than 300 matches set to be played throughout the summer, 2026 is shaping up to be a busyyear for Women and Girls Cricket in Wiltshire. The continued growth underlines the county’s reputation as a thriving centre for the women’s game and reflects the growing demand for competitive opportunities at every level.
