Wiltshire Cricket Re-Launch their Women's Volunteer Network for 2026!

Wiltshire Cricket is celebrating women in cricket through the re-launch of its Women’s Volunteer Network. We are committed to continue to grow and show that cricket is a sport for all. This dedicated space aims to enable discussion around shared experiences to help build a community of women in cricket. The Women’s Network will support the uptake of opportunities to grow participation levels across the sport for women and girls.

The Women’s Volunteer Network acts to facilitate connection amongst those in volunteering positions and their paths into these roles. The aim of the Women’s Volunteer Network is to give women the confidence at their clubs to take on committee positions and offer their voice in club decision making processes. This platform emphasises focus on diversifying the people involved in the club scene in Wiltshire to better represent all that can access cricket.

Our first Women’s Network event will be a scoring and umpiring workshop. The content will cover a breakdown of:

  • the umpiring signals
  • the role of the square leg umpire
  • scoring in a book
  • scoring online on play-cricket

This workshop will run on Monday 15th June 6:30-8:30 at Avebury CC.

We would like to invite the women at your club to come along to either refine their existing skills or learn something completely new! This workshop is FREE and open to any women keen to get more involved in their clubs, whether their background is as a player, parent or other contributor, all abilities and ages are welcome!

Events and workshops similar to scoring and umpiring will be held throughout the season and into next year. Upcoming events include a Women’s Network meet-up and refreshments at a Women’s County 1XI fixture, groundskeeping, female health in sport and women in committees.
