Wiltshire CCC Showcase fixture v Glamorgan - Women's and Men's T20 Double-Header!
Wiltshire Cricket and Swindon Cricket Club were pleased to welcome players, supporters, volunteers and officials to another successful NCCA/ECB Showcase Day on Friday 15th May. Following the success of previous showcase fixtures, the double-header event once again brought Wiltshire and Glamorgan together for a day that celebrated cricket across the county.
With free entry available throughout the day, many people came along to enjoy the opportunity to watch both women's and men's cricket at a high standard. The event gave local cricket supporters a rare chance to see professional players in action without having to leave Wiltshire.
The showcase fixtures continue to be an important part of the cricket calendar, giving Wiltshire players the opportunity to play against professional opposition and helping to raise the profile of cricket within the county.
The women's fixture also highlighted the strong relationship that has developed between Wiltshire and Glamorgan in recent years. The partnership continues to create opportunities for women and girls across the county, with Wiltshire players benefiting from links to Glamorgan's Academy and pathway programmes.
For the men's side, the fixture provided useful preparation ahead of the National Counties T20 competition and another opportunity for players to test themselves against quality opposition.
Away from the cricket, the day was a great example of what can be achieved through the hard work of clubs, volunteers and supporters. From preparing the ground to helping things run smoothly throughout the day, many people played their part in making the event a success.
It was also encouraging to see so many families, young cricketers and supporters enjoying the occasion. Events like these help inspire the next generation of players and show the opportunities that exist within the game.
Wiltshire Cricket would like to thank Swindon Cricket Club for hosting the event, Glamorgan for their continued support of the showcase programme, and everyone who attended throughout the day.
The continued success of the Showcase Day highlights the strength of cricket in Wiltshire and the important role these fixtures play in supporting the development of the game across the county.
