Whats Happened So Far?

January:

A huge thank you to Barry Reed, Connor Reed and Liam Reed for their fantastic support of our Super 1s and Super 9s programme.

This month, we were proud to host the first-ever Super 9's open trial at Calne Leisure Centre. We had a great turnout, with lots of talented cricketers taking part, and we wish everyone the very best of luck in the selection process.

If you are interested in taking part, please complete the form on our Super 9's Page.

February:

This month marked the first-ever Glow-In-The- Dark Super 1's Cricket Event! Over 15 participants from across the county joined us for a unique and exciting cricket session under UV lights. With glowing bats, stumps, and tennis balls, the session was packed with energy and fun, bringing the game to life in a whole new way after dark.

March:

This month marked the completion of two table cricket competitions, with 14 teams taking part across both events. Congratulations to Uplands School and Springfield, who won their respective county competitions. A big thank you to Brimble Hill School and Lavington School for hosting.

In the regional competition held in Exeter, Springfield shone once again, taking home the top prize, congratulations to the team on this fantastic achievement.

April

April saw the Super 1’s sessions move outdoors, alongside the launch of softball cricket sessions in schools. It’s been a fantastic start to the season, with plenty of sunny weather helping things along.

We’re always keen to welcome new participants to our Super 1’s Hubs. If you’re interested in getting involved, please use the link to find out more here.

May

May marked the start of our SEND Softball delivery programme in schools, with cricket being delivered in more than seven schools across the county. The programme has already made a fantastic start, and we are looking forward to expanding our reach to even more schools in the coming months.

During sessions this month, several of our Super 1s participants took on leadership roles by helping to organise and deliver warm-up activities. This formed part of a workshop designed to develop confidence, communication, and teamwork skills.

These experiences provide valuable opportunities for participants to build essential life and employability skills that can be applied both within cricket and in the wider world of work.

June:

June was a landmark month for disability cricket in Wiltshire, as the county hosted its first-ever Super 9s fixture against Hampshire Super 9s Academy.

Held at Collingbourne Cricket Club, the double-header fixture was a significant milestone for the Wiltshire Super 9s programme and provided players with an opportunity to represent their county in a competitive and inclusive environment.

For many of the players, it was a day they will never forget. The atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic, with plenty of smiles, great cricket, and a real sense of pride as players showcased their skills. As the first Super 9s match ever played by Wiltshire Cricket, it marked an exciting step forward in the development of disability cricket within the county.

A huge thank you goes to Barry Reed and the entire Reed family, whose hard work and dedication helped make the day such a success. From preparing the ground and organising the event to scoring, umpiring, and providing an outstanding tea between matches, their support ensured the day ran smoothly and created a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Wiltshire Cricket would also like to thank Hampshire Cricket Board, and in particular Michael, for bringing a team to Wiltshire and helping make this historic fixture possible. The partnership between the two counties provided a fantastic experience for all the players involved.

Hopefully, this is just the beginning, with many more Super 9s fixtures to come in the future.

June also saw the conclusion of the Lord's Taverners Softball Cricket Regional Finals. Congratulations to Downland School, who were crowned regional champions following an excellent performance and will now progress to the next stage of the competition.

It has been a fantastic month for disability cricket across Wiltshire, and we look forward to building on this success throughout the rest of the season.
