All Stars Cricket is enjoyed across Wiltshire in 2020
2020 has been a challenging summer for us all, but the collective Cricket community can be very proud of what it has achieved with Cricket provided for children and adults of all levels and abilities. Unfortunately, one of the recreational game's flagship programmes; All Stars Cricket, was significantly interrupted. The programme, that normally runs through May, June and July, saw 34 clubs an 1100 children participate in 2019. Most of these clubs were unable to run their programmes in 2020, however the programme was not lost completely with 8 clubs managing to deliver later programmes during August and September. Across these 8 programmes there were approximately 125 children that managed to participate in this wonderful introduction to Cricket for 5 to 8 year olds.
Wiltshire Cricket would like to thank and congratulate the following clubs for running revised All Stars programme in the latter part of this summer:
- Avebury CC
- Biddestone CC
- Chippenham CC
- Devizes CC
- Goatacre CC
- Heytesbury and Sutton Veny CC
- Potterne CC
- Warminster CC
Through Aled Evans, our Community Coach and All Stars Champion, Wiltshire Cricket was able to visit all eight clubs and Aled was hugely impressed with the energy and organisation he saw at all of these clubs.
Whilst All Stars was able to run on a reduced scale, unfortunately we did have one loss which was Dynamos Cricket. However, the decision to push the launch back a year in line with the Hundred launch will be beneficial as it gives everyone more time to prepare and really sell Dynamos. Hopefully next year we will have as much excitement and uptake from Dynamos as we have seen with All Stars in recent years.
Thank you to everyone who supported All Stars this year and next year we will come back stronger than ever with two fantastic programmes run brilliantly across the county with all of the amazing clubs we have.
