Congratulations to Corsham on winning this season's Vitality Under 19 T20

Sunday 12th September saw the Vitality Under 19 T20 finals day take place at Swindon CC involving teams from the three qualifying groups; Corsham CC, Potterne CC and Swindon CC.

The final came about after a summer of group fixtures involving 11 teams. Wiltshire Cricket would like to thank those 11 clubs for supporting the competition this summer and we look forward to the competition returning in 2022.

Finals day itself was fantastically hosted by Swindon CC. Match one was competed between Corsham and Swindon. Batting first Swindon posted 140-6 with P Singh (40) and A Atwell (39) giving a great platform before Jacob Hobson added 33 not out torwards the end. For Corsham, Ben Oakley returned impressive figures of 3-19.

On reply, Corsham made light work of their chase, reaching their target for the loss of one wicket with 5.5 overs to spare. For Corsham, Ben Oakley made 51* and Jack Humphreys 50*.

The second game of the day saw Corsham come up against Potterne with Corsham knowing that victory would give them the title. After winning the toss, Potterne decided to insert Corsham. With Corey Burgess retiring on 51 and Ben Oakley adding 29, Corsham posted a competitive 157-8 from their 20 overs. With the ball, both Ben Higton (3-19) and Ethan Hutchins (3-15) took three wickets apiece.

The chase saw various Potterne batters make contributions including Josh Kelly (50*), Ben Higton (27), Rory Lyttle (27*) and Dominic Shearn (25) but unfortunately they fell five runs short thanks to an excellent bowling and fielding display from Corsham which included two wickets for Ben Oakley and two run outs.

Despite the above seeing Corsham crowned as county winners, the final match between Potterne and Swindon still saw some fantastically competitive cricket. Batting first there were lots of contributions as Potterne posted 179 all out with Ben Higton top scoring on 31 and Sam Thurlow adding 27.

In reply there were some outstanding figures from Sean Montgomery who took 5-14 as Swindon were bowled out for 145. For Swindon, Yusuf Khan scored 44 and James Pitman 37.
