Future of Junior Club Cricket - Consultation Survey
Earlier this year Wiltshire Cricket confirmed that the current Wiltshire Youth Cricket League committee would be stepping down from their roles at the end of the 2025 season and that the running of junior cricket would from that point come under the management of the Cricket Board.
Rather than simply inheriting and running with the League as it currently exists, the Cricket Board sees this moment as an opportunity to:
- Re-define the purpose and ethos of junior club cricket
- Align all junior cricket competitions under one identity
- Create resource to efficiently and effectively manage junior club cricket
- Involve clubs in the development of what junior club cricket will look like from 2026
Updates
With the above points in mind, we are pleased to report that Wiltshire Cricket has recently completed the recruitment process for a new Leagues and Competitions Development Officer who will be joining the Wiltshire Cricket Development team from 20th October. We will announce details of this appointment closer to the time.
Ahead of this new role beginning, and with the 2025 season now completed, we are now keen to start the process of consulting with our clubs regarding what the future of junior club cricket might look like from 2026 onwards.
With this in mind, clubs have been invited to complete a consultation survey that will be invaluable in helping to shape the future of junior leagues and competitions in Wiltshire.
Please note that this survey is open to all coaches and volunteers from within your cricket club who you feel might have views that would be valuable. Therefore, please do share this with your team of volunteers.

Please also note that this survey focuses predominantly on the existing competitions in the Wiltshire Youth Cricket League as well as seeking clubs' views on new opportunities and changes for the future. What this survey is not specifically seeking views on is our girls only competitions as these come under the management of our Women’s and Girls Development Officer, Thea Hopkins. Following the deadline above, we will collate response, share these back with clubs and then start to build the profile of our junior competitions ready for 2026.
